District 2 Supervisor Glenn Church's wife, Katherine McKenzie was an Editor of the Monterey Herald in 2024 and 2025. Church failed to disclose that information on his SEI 700 form, thus concealing it from anyone who looked up that form at the County. The only way it was discovered is because he revealed it on the data he provided to the state in 2024 and 2025, which was supposed to be identical as that of the county.
District 2 Supervisor Glenn Church and his father wrote a book about their Ancestry. It starts with 40 families in New England in the 1640s and comes to present. Church's family moved to the county in the 1860s. Church's Chief of Staff, Marilyn Vierras's family seems to have been here just prior to that and they state the families have been close since that time. Another Church family that controls 40,000 acres of farmland was here the same time as the Vierra and Church families were and although not explicitly stated, given they were all in the same buiness in the same area, before Castroville existed, they too had to know each other. The last name of the current Editor of the Monterey Herald is Kellogg. Kellogg is one of the names of the 40 familes that were in New England in the 1640's. Is it possible there is a link between those two families that is in fact 300+ years old?
